The end of a spiritual quest for some and awakening of spirituality for others, Tirupati is the gateway to the holy temple of Lord Balaji on the hills of Tirumala. This little temple town in the Chittoor district of Andhra is dotted with many temples, most of them devoted to Lord Vishnu in different forms, but the ultimate honor goes to the Tirupati Balaji Temple on the seventh hill of Tirumala. A pilgrimage, a scenic spot, and a soul seeker’s refuge, Tirupati embraces all those who enter the realm of Lord Balaji.
This huge temple complex, spread in an area of over 2.2 acres, is one of the most visited & richest pilgrimages across the globe. The temple crests the seventh hill on the Tirumala range and can be easily accessed on foot or by a vehicle. Its magnificent architecture, highlighted by gold-covered doors, pillars & domes, is quite exemplary. The presiding deity, Lord Venkateswar, fondly called Balaji, appears here in the form of an 8 ft tall black idol, dressed in elegant clothing & glittering jewels, and accompanied by his consorts Goddesses Srilakshmi & Padmavati. The idol's eyes are covered, supporting the premise that his intense gaze would burn the universe. This temple, steeped deep in legends & lore, casts a spiritual spell on the devotees standing in serpentine queues to receive Lord Balaji’s blessings.
Located at the foot of the hills, this Shiva temple is visited by devotees before going on to Lord Balaji’s temple on Tirumala. The devotees bathe in the holy waters of Kapil Teertham to rid of all their sins and purify their souls before they embark on their journey to the realm of Tirupati Balaji.
According to a legend, Lord Balaji and Goddess Padmavathy stayed here for six months after their wedding before moving up to their abode in Tirumala Hills. Thus, newlyweds come to this temple to offer their first prayers for a long & happy wedded life.
One of the largest & oldest temples in Tirupati, Govindraja Temple is easily recognizable by its tall gopuram that dominates the skyline of this temple town. Though the temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu as Govindraja, it has many smaller shrines devoted to other gods & goddesses within the complex.

Sri Vari Museum- Displaying various exhibits including figurines, artifacts, pictures, and scriptures depicting the history of Sri Balaji Temple.

Brahmotsavam Festival- Lord Balaji Temple festival celebrated in September or October, depending on the lunar calendar.
Tirupati Laddos and savory Vadas are offered to the Lord and then sold & distributed amidst the devotees as Balaji’s Prasadam or blessings. Prepared in special kitchens, with specially sourced ingredients, the dry fruit laddoos & Vadas are quite delicious. Also do try the delicious Upma prasadam here that is offered free to the devotees.
Lord Balaji’s devotees throng the temple throughout the year to receive his blessings. However, the best time to visit the temple would be in winter from September to March when the weather is pleasant

Just come back from an amazing 2 week trip to India. First we done the golden triangle which we chose to do the train trip from Delhi to Agra a must you have to do if not just for the experience. All the cities were wonderful. In mumbia we done a city tour and ended our trip in the taj for afternoon tea another must. They really looked after us thank you all.
