Uttar Pradesh; an absolute reflection of Indian history, traditions, and culture in India; is also known as the cradle of Indian civilization and culture.
The spectacular Taj Mahal, the spiritual Ghats, the legacy of the Nawabs, and the holy stupas beckon you for a delightful experience in Uttar Pradesh. The birthplace of Lord Rama and Lord Krishna, the land of Buddha’s first sermon, and the realm of the sacred Ganges, Uttar Pradesh is a magical allure for the pilgrims in India. Its rich legacy of handicrafts and its delicious Mughalai cuisine is an experience in itself!
The forts, palaces, and other monuments of Uttar Pradesh hold a unique appeal for travelers across the world. The inimitable beauty of the Taj Mahal, the grandeur of the Agra Fort, the lost city of Fatehpur Sikri, and the spectacular Imam Bara & Residency in Lucknow depict the past glory of Uttar Pradesh. Its notable Jhansi Fort finds mention in the Indian freedom movement, while the Lion Capital of Ashoka’s Pillar, in Sarnath, has been adopted as India’s National Emblem.
A holy bath in the spiritual city of Varanasi; the congregation for Kumbh Mela in Allahabad, the tales of Lord Krishna in Mathura and Vrindavan, and the Buddhist stupas in Sarnath; create a divine experience for travelers to Uttar Pradesh.
India’s most visited city, Agra, is the heritage capital of Uttar Pradesh. The marbled dome of Taj Mahal, the red walls of Agra Fort, the sprawling Fatehpur Sikri complex, and the fort & tomb at Sikandra, epitomize the lost grandeur of the Mughals.
Fondly dubbed as the city of the Nawabs, this zesty capital of Uttar Pradesh upholds the rich legacy of the rulers of Awadh. Explore the intriguing Bhool-Bhulaiya (maze) of Imam Bara, buy a Chikankari embroidered shirt, and dig in the delicious Tundey Kebabs, for a true-blue Lucknow experience.
Life in Varanasi, one of the oldest living cities in the world, revolves around the holy Ganges. Bathe in the holy river and observe the birth & death rituals being performed at the river steps. The evening river ceremony, performed at Dasawamedha Ghat amidst oil lamps and rhythmic chants, is a celestial experience.
Mathura and Vrindavan, the holy cities of Lord Krishna's birth and childhood, are dotted with beautiful temples dedicated to Lord Krishna and his consort Radha. Holi, the festival of colors, is celebrated enthusiastically in these twin cities.
Allahabad, officially known as Prayagraj, is home to the confluence of the three holiest rivers in Indian mythology- the Ganges, the Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati. Once in every twelve years, Allahabad hosts Kumbh Mela- the largest congregation on the earth.
The holy realm of Buddhism, Sarnath holds the distinction of being the site for Buddha’s first sermon. Emperor Ashoka built several stupas and monasteries here in the 3rd century BC to commemorate the debut sermon. Sarnath is one of the most sacred destinations on the Buddhist pilgrimage circuit.
