According to reports, the tribal population of India is approximately 15% of the total majorly inhabiting in the central part. The tribal community of Rajasthan is mainly found in the Aravalli mountain range of Sirohi in Udaipur. They are also reported to be living in scarce numbers in other states like Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Tripura and Maharashtra. Known for cultural dances like Ghoomar and Than Gair, people like visiting and interacting with them.
Santhal tribes belong to West Bengal, specifically seen in the Bankura and Purulia districts of the state. Also present in nearby states such as Bihar, Assam, Jharkhand and Odisha, they master the art of hunting. Pay a visit to see their authentic Santhali dance, music and festivals like Karam, Baba Bonga, Ero and Maghe.
The most forested state of India, Madhya Pradesh inhabits Gonds tribe in Chhindwara district. Besides, they are also spotted in Chhattisgarh, limited areas of Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. On your trip to central India, head to Gond's forests to see their simple lifestyle living in thatched houses and adorning typical traditional attires.
As the name suggests, this is one of the oldest tribes of India lives in the isolated Andaman and Nicobar Islands. It is a group of multiple tribes which include Sentinelese, Jarawa, Onge and Jangil. Unfortunately, they are slowly drifting towards the verge of extinction.
The follower of distinct matrilineal system, this tribe of Meghalaya is particularly known for their colorful style of living. You can also find them in Assam, Nagaland and parts of West Bengal. Women are commonly spotted adorned with varieties of traditional ornaments while men sport turban with a feather tucked behind.
Bhutia is a dominant tribe of Sikkim residing on the Himalayas. They are popular for their vibrant culture reflecting majestically in their art and cuisine. People already enjoy their dishes widely like momos and thukpa which are no longer a secret forever. Not to forget, their boisterous festivals - Losar and Loosong are a must see.
The most abundant tribe of Arunachal Pradesh is mainly found in Papum Pare, Kurung Kumey, East Kameng and Lower Subansiri districts. What sets them apart is their strong belief in the spirits of nature. The most famous Nyokum Festival, dedicated to goddess Nyokum is held every year in February and hence a great time to get to know their culture.

Just come back from an amazing 2 week trip to India. First we done the golden triangle which we chose to do the train trip from Delhi to Agra a must you have to do if not just for the experience. All the cities were wonderful. In mumbia we done a city tour and ended our trip in the taj for afternoon tea another must. They really looked after us thank you all.
