The shimmering lakes and fairy-tale palaces of Udaipur bring alive the romance of Rajasthan. This erstwhile state of Mewar, set amid tall Aravalli ridges & gorgeous manmade lakes, creates a romantic aura. Founded by Maharana Udai Singh II in 1568, Udaipur is a picture of beauty & elegance. Welcome to this royal city of palaces & havelis and lakes & gardens where majestic structures, much-fabled history, and colorful culture are sure to capture your heart.
The center stage of Udaipur is set in and around the shimmering waters of Lake Pichola. The majestic City Palace on its eastern shore and the spectacular island palaces of Jag Niwas & Jag Mandir on the lake create a royal ambiance. Go for a boat ride on Lake Pichola and enjoy the cool breeze, and watch a splendid sunset as you float on its placid waters. Or better still, stay at the Lake Palace, a heritage property, for a royal experience.
A splendid fusion of Rajasthani & Mughal architecture, City Palace is the symbol of the pride & glory of the state of Mewar. Maharana Udai Singh II commissioned its construction, and then the subsequent rulers added more palaces & temples to the structure over the next few centuries. However, the crowned jewel of the City Palace is its sprawling museum that exhibits priceless artifacts, royal photographs, and a range of royal paraphernalia.
The Crystal Gallery, housed in Fateh Prakash Palace in Udaipur, is hailed as one of the finest crystal collections across the world. It hosts a marvelous collection of crystals commissioned by Mahajara Sajjan Singh from the F & C Olsen of London. From engraved crystal dinner sets to the royal crystal furniture- this collection is sure to dazzle you!
This fascinating museum offers you an insight into the rich culture and traditional folk art of Rajasthan. It showcases an artistic collection of puppets, masks, traditional dresses & jewelry, and Rajasthani paintings. But the one thing you must not miss here is the cultural performance that includes colorful puppet shows, and folk music & dance performances.
Much better known as the Lake Palace of Udaipur, Jag Niwas is the epitome of the beauty & architectural finesse of the bygone era. Once the summer palace of the royalty of Mewar, Jag Niwas is now a fine heritage hotel and a perfect place to experience the royal splendor of Rajasthan.
This royal garden, specially built for the princesses & the queens, is sure to mesmerize you. Lush lawns, artistic fountains, sparkling pools, and colorful blooms greet you at this beautiful Garden of the Maidens.

Shilpgram, an experiential museum & bazaar, is the perfect place to buy colorful fabrics, camel leatherware, traditional jewelry, and an array of trinkets & souvenirs. And this interesting shopping experience is peppered with cultural performances and delicious local food.
While crispy Pyaz Kachoris, spicy Mirchi Vada, piping hot jalebis, and delicious Poha are must-try street foods here, it’s the scrumptious Rajasthani Thai that certainly takes away the cake.
