Dargah Sharif refers to the tomb of the Sufi Saint, Moin-ud-din Chishti, affectionately called Gareeb Nawaaz or the patron of the poor. He arrived in Ajmer in 1192, worked for the poor & down-trodden, and made Ajmer his final resting place in 1236. His preachings focussed on service to mankind and are thus venerated beyond the lines of religion & castes. His tomb, visited by emperors like Akbar & Khilji and colonials like Queen Mary & Lord Curzon, is a major pilgrimage for people from all walks of life. This marble shrine with silver doors & delicate arches is a spiritual retreat where the fragrance of flowers & Sufi renditions create a magical ambiance.
This beautiful lake, ringed by the Aravallis, is a much-visited hotspot of Ajmer. Quiet busy in the evenings, especially during weekends, Ana-Sagar is a great place for a boat ride, some delicious street food, or for a quiet soul-seeking experience.
Locally called Soniji Ki Nasiyan, this magnificent Jain temple is dedicated to the first Jain Tirthankar. Its façade is built in red sandstone and embellished with intricate carvings & exquisite sculptures. The sanctum sanctorum, however, is adorned with gold, silver, and precious stones.
This spectacular mosque that was once a Sanskrit school is a beautiful blend of Hindu and Islamic architecture. It is believed that Mohammad Ghauri invaded the school, plundered it, and turned it into a mosque. Its arched wall, supported by the pillars of the school, is a thing of beauty. It is believed that the structure was completed in two and a half days, thus the name- Adhai-din-ka Jhopra.
A legacy of King Ajaypal Chauhan, the founder of Ajmer, this hilltop fort offers bird’s eye view of the entire city. This solid rectangular structure, with thick walls & battlements, resounds with the tales of bravery of the Chauhan rulers.

Just come back from an amazing 2 week trip to India. First we done the golden triangle which we chose to do the train trip from Delhi to Agra a must you have to do if not just for the experience. All the cities were wonderful. In mumbia we done a city tour and ended our trip in the taj for afternoon tea another must. They really looked after us thank you all.
