Orissa is the land of ancient, much-venerated temples and Buddhist shrines. Bhubaneswar, with over 700 temples gracing the town, is rightly called the self-dubbed city of temples. The spectacular seat of Shiva at the Lingaraja & Mukteshwar temples and the Khajuraho-styled Rajarani temples are the much-revered Hindu temples here. The realm of Lord Jagannath in Puri, where thousands of devotees pull the thick ropes of Lord Jagannath’s colossal chariot, is a compelling sight.
This land, steeped deep in centuries of history, is home to many spectacular heritage sites. The UNESCO-protected astounding structure of the Sun Temple in Konark, the fascinating Udayagiri & Khandgiri Caves, the 13th-century Atharanala Bridge at the entrance of Puri, and the Ashoka edicts on Dhauli Hill take you on a time travel to the pages of history.
Blessed with a variety of flora, fauna, and avifauna, Orissa promises you a thrilling wildlife experience. Spot the awesome saltwater crocodiles in the estuaries of Bhitarkanika National Park and watch the Gahirmatha Marine Sanctuary come alive with millions of Olive Ridley turtles. Go for an enthralling jeep safari in Simlipal National Park and enjoy the antics of thousands of birds on the shores of Chilika- Orissa offers you all this and much more!
Around 60 different tribes inhabit the lush Eastern Ghats of Odisha. Koraput, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Jeypore, Naurangpur, and Malkangiri are the major tribal districts of Odisha. Their colorful culture, folk music & dances, and vibrant markets are must-see during the tribal tour of Orissa.
Bhubaneswar, the state capital of Orissa, is a beautiful blend of old & new. The old city, clustered around the sacred Bindu Tank, is the holy center of Bhubaneswar while the new city, with its growing infrastructure and a sprinkling of museums & markets, offers you luxurious accommodations and amenities.
Puri, often known as Jagannath Puri, is synonymous with Lord Jagannath. Known for its spectacular Chariot Festival of Lord Jagannath, un-spoilt beaches, and stunning sand art, Puri epitomizes the spirit of Orissa.
Konark’s appeal lies in its glorious Sun Temple that depicts the colossal chariot of the Sun God outfitted with seven dashing horses and twelve pairs of massive wheels. Listed as a UNESCO-listed World Heritage Site, the Sun Temple is a marvelous sight to behold.
A nature lover’s delight and a birder’s paradise, Chilika is Asia’s largest brackish lagoon. It is home to thousands of birds, including those visiting from Iran, Siberia, and the Himalayas, that flock its shores during the winter chill. Flamingoes, painted storks, pelicans, ospreys, and a range of other birds paint the waters of Chilika in vivid hues.
