The poster child of Kashmir Tourism Dal Lake is a vast clear sheet of water mirroring the looming Pir Panjal peaks. The best way to experience the charms of Dal is to stay in a houseboat on the lake. Built traditionally with all modern amenities, these colorful houseboats exude the opulence of the lost royal era. Go for a Shikara ride on the lake, visit the beautiful Char Chinari Island, buy some flowers at the floating market, and soak in the idyllic ambiance of Dal.
Established during the Mughal era, and blossoming through the ages, these royal gardens are fine specimens of artistic landscaping and elaborate architecture blended with natural splendor. The three gardens- Shalimar, Nishat, and Chashm-e-Shahi, set on the banks of Jhelum with snowy peaks in the backdrop, are a shutterbug’s delight.
This 11th century Shiva temple stands at the top of Shankaracharya Hill that is regarded as the oldest site in Srinagar, dating back to 250 BC. The wooded hill offers you breathtaking views of the valley sprawled at its feet.
Spread over an expanse of over 26 acres, this is the largest tulip garden in Asia. Set by the glittering waters of Dal with Zarbawan range in the backdrop, this beautiful garden is an endless rainbow of gorgeous tulips. Its large variety of tulips certainly gives the gardens of the Netherlands a run for their money.
