Dive in and marvel over the exotic wildlife at the first national park of India, Jim Corbett National park. It was established in 1936 by the notable hunter and naturalist, Jim Corbett as Hailey National Park. You can find it in Nainital district of Uttarakhand sprawling in an area of nearly 520 sq. km. It is best known for being the tiger reserve, inhabiting Bengal Tiger, also the launching site of Project Tiger in 1973. Ornithologists and bird lovers flock to the park for seeing the striking avian population. Brimming with lush thickets and enchanting flora and fauna, its calm and soothing environment add to its charm.
The places in the park are surprising, remarkable, remote and familiar that will prompt you it is a beautiful world. The vibrant terrain is composed of marshy depressions, hills, grasslands, riverine belts and a large lake. Ramganga River snakes through the forests with freshwater and alpine flora. The vegetation promotes the growth of over 600 species of plants that include ferns, trees, grass, climbers, shrubs, herbs and bamboos. Nearly 75 percent of the land is dominated by Sal forests followed by Khair, Sissoo and Bamboo. A huge species of flowering trees also contribute in the greenery, some of the prominent ones are Kachnar with white tom pink flowers, Semal with giant red blooms and Dhak. The floor is occupied by the growth of shrubs like Maror Phali.
The park protects a wondrous variety of fauna that makes this national park one of the best places to explore wildlife. Royal Bengal Tiger and Asiatic Elephant are the main residents. They share the abode with other animal species like Asiatic Black Bear, Walking Deer, Sambar, Hog Deer, Sloth Beer, Yellow-throated marten and Otters. You can also see some critically endangered animals like Ghariyal, Mugger Crocodiles and the King Cobra. The avian world is equally enchanting presenting more than 600 species of birds like great pied hornbill and Scarlet Minivet.
Besides breathtaking wildlife and swathes of wilderness, Corbett National Park is surrounded by beautiful attractions. Kalagarh Dam is a great place to spot the waterfowls. It is a delightful place for photographers allowing them to capture vibrant and rare species of birds. Next is Corbett Fall, a natural waterfall situated 25 km away from Ramnagar. Bath in the natural fall and soak in its ethereal location packed with dense forests and satisfying silence. The list continues with Garjiya Devi temple located on the edge of Kosi River. Locals worship Goddess Garjiya and throng it on the occasion of Kartika Purnima every year.

Just come back from an amazing 2 week trip to India. First we done the golden triangle which we chose to do the train trip from Delhi to Agra a must you have to do if not just for the experience. All the cities were wonderful. In mumbia we done a city tour and ended our trip in the taj for afternoon tea another must. They really looked after us thank you all.
