One of the largest states in the north-east, Assam is a gorgeous blend of verdant landscapes, exciting wildlife, colorful culture, and ancient heritage. It's emerald tea plantations, uninterrupted paddy fields, beautiful temples, and majestic one-horned rhinos make Assam an epic adventure.
Sip a cup of Assam tea, pay obeisance to Kamakhya Devi, go for a rhino safari, taste the delicious Assamese duck and cruise the Brahmaputra for a wholesome Assam experience. Let’s take a quick look at the exclusive destinations and attractions of Assam.
The sprawling complex of Kamakhya Devi Temple, the spectacular Umananda Temple on an island on River Brahmaputra, the age-revered Vaishnavite temples on the riverine island of Majuli, temples of Hajo, and the ruins of Da- Parbatia are some of the most venerated temples in Assam. Basking in centuries of spirituality, these temples are pillars of faith and deference.
Assam’s wildlife is synonymous with the one-horned rhino. Check out the exotic beast in the national parks of Assam. Besides the majestic rhino, other animals in Assam’s wildlife sanctuaries & parks include the elephants, tigers, bison, wild buffalo, and swamp deer. Take a wildlife safari in Kaziranga, Potibora or Manas National Parks for a thrilling experience.
Watch a glorious sunset as you sail down the majestic Brahmaputra River. Brahmaputra River Cruise is celebrated for its lavish accommodations, local cuisine, fascinating itineraries, and onboard cultural programs.
The largest city in the north-east, Guwahati is the social, cultural & economic hub of Assam. A bustling cosmopolitan, yet preserving the cultural integrity of Assam, Guwahati is a perfect place to soak in the essence of Assam.
The rhinoland of Assam, Kaziranga is the domain of the one-horned rhino. However, the park has an abundant population of elephants, tigers, water buffaloes, swamp deer, and hundreds of birds- both residents and migrants.
An ever-changing jigsaw of shifting islands on the Brahmaputra, Majuli is not only a natural spectacle but also the cultural & religious goldmine of Assam. Its gorgeous vistas, unique ecosystem and ancient Hindu monasteries (Satras) are preserved as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Ancient temple ruins, lush gardens, and tea-clad hills mark the gorgeous town of Tezpur. Visit the ruins of Da-Parbatia and the mythical fortress of Agnigarh to bask in the natural beauty and heritage of Assam.
