Andhra’s spiritual legacy of spectacular temples is quite fascinating. The temple town of Tirupati, where Lord Balaji dominates the Tirumala Hills, is one of the richest and the most visited temples in India. Other temples like Simhachalam and Kankamahalakshmi temples are visited by thousands of devotees.
With the Bay of Bengal splashing its shores, Andhra is home to gorgeous beaches especially in its port town of Vizag. An array of beaches, from R.K. Beach in the city to the quiet out-of-town beaches on the outskirts, like Gangavaram & Bheemli, and the action-packed Rushikonda Beach are perfect fun places in Andhra.
Andhra’s rich heritage, in the form of magnificent monuments and glorious ruins, depicts the saga of its prominent past. The magnificent Char Minar, remnants of Golconda Fort, ancient temple ruins, and relics of Buddhist monasteries in Thotlakonda & Bavikonda showcase the exotic medley of cultures in Andhra.
Often known as the ‘city of pearls’, Hyderabad is certainly a gem amongst cities. A patchwork of forts, palaces, museums, & monuments, Hyderabad perfectly blends the chaos of the old city with the glitz of its growing hi-tech town. Dig into delicious Hyderabadi Biryani and Hyderabad’s special desert- ‘Double Ka Meetha’
The largest port city and a commercial hub of Andhra, Vizag is an unexplored tourist haven. Beautiful beaches, lush countryside, scenic & spiritual temples, and welcoming smiles greet you in this warmhearted city of Andhra. Shop at ‘Lepakshi’, the state emporium and do try spicy Andhra Thali and delicious Paper Sweet to experience the taste of Vizag.
The temple-town of Tirupati serves as the gateway to the hills of Tirumala- the sacred abode of Lord Balaji. The route from Tirupati to Tirumala hills is amazingly scenic. You may drive up the road or walk around 8kms on a scenic footpath to enter the realm of Balaji. Even if you are not a believer, Tirumala Balaji Temple is worth visiting for its scenic beauty and magnificent architecture. Don’t miss the delicious 'Ladoo prasadam' in Tirupati.
Away from the heat & grind of the cities, Araku Valley is a quiet getaway in the tribal belt in the Eastern Ghats of Andhra. Just 110kms from Vizag, Araku is a scenic drive up the Ghats or you may take the exotic glass train coach that snakes through 58 tunnels and over 84 bridges to reach Araku. Gorgeous vistas, mesmerizing waterfalls, and tea & coffee plantations are the major highlights of Araku.
Visakhapatnam, better known by its colonial name Vizag, is a city of beautiful beaches, temples, sprawling parks, crispy dosas, and warm-hearted people. The second-largest city in Andhra, yet away from the touristy scene, Vizag holds the promise of a beautiful holiday destination.
