A quintessential metropolitan with a glorious history, rich heritage, and old-world charm, Hyderabad welcomes you to the realm of the Nizams. Char Minar, Hyderabad’s most photographed monument, is synonymous with the city. Located in the old Hyderabad area, the structure was named so for the tall fluted minarets on its four corners. A mosque is located on its top floor. It was built by Mohammad Quli Qutb Shah in 1591 to commemorate the founding of the city of Hyderabad. Over the centuries, Char Minar has stood the test of time and is still an iconic landmark of Hyderabad.
Built on a granite hill on the outskirts of Hyderabad, Golconda Fort is an enamoring blend of strength and grandeur. A humble mud fort of Kakatiya rulers in the 12th century, Golconda was fortified by the Qutb Shahi rulers into a granite wonder. An architectural & acoustical genius of its time, Golconda fort is now a ravaged jumble of structure within its tall ramparts that bear testimony to its bygone glory. The Light & Sound Show held at the fort depicts its glorious history and secrets hidden its many nooks & crannies.
One of the largest private collections in the world, Salar Jung Museum is a treasure trove of world-class art & artifacts. This priceless collection by Mir Yousef Ali Khan showcases a variety of stone sculptures, bronze images, painted textiles, wooden carvings, miniature paintings, modern art, ivory carvings, jade carvings, metal-ware, manuscripts, and arms & armor from across the globe.
Built on an elevated base in grey granite with exquisite ornamentation, Qutb Shahi Tombs are home to the mausoleums. A perfect blend of Indo-Persian architecture, these tombs depict the end of an era in Hyderabad.
An imposing structure in granite, Mecca Mosque is one of the oldest mosques in India. Commissioned by Quli Qutb Shah but completed by Aurangazeb after he annexed the Golconda Kingdom, this spectacular mosque is an invaluable heritage of Hyderabad.
